Adoption Spotlight: Spanish Greyhound Rescue

Hundreds of greyhound adoption groups have been formed across the county in order to find homes for dogs that have been discarded by the racing industry. As part of our continuing series, we would like to spotlight the wonderful work of USA Defenders of Greyhounds

Dear Friends,

Congratulations are due to Sally Allen and all of her wonderful volunteers who have been saving greyhounds from the racing industry since 1988. The goal of USA Defenders of Greyhounds has always been to end the use, abuse and senseless destruction of greyhound bred for racing.

Based in Carmel, Indiana, this independent group places greyhounds in nine other states! Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Wisconsin are all part of the organization's network. Additionally, USA DOG cooperates with other rescues to transport dogs and bring them to other groups nationwide.

Take a look at some of the wonderful greyhounds recently placed into homes and think about making a new Best Friend of your own today! Click here for an adoption application and click here to make a direct donation to USA DOG's efforts to give gentle greyhounds the second chance they so much deserve.

Brooklyn Finally, Sally must also be recognized for her strong and unwavering voice against the cruelty of dog racing. Joining with other adoption and advocacy organizations around the world, including Greyhound Companions of New Mexico and Last Chance for Animals, USA DOG has just joined our coalition to help close down the Canidrome, China's only commercial dog track.Read Sally's letter to the Macau government and then get the latest news on our RescueBrooklyn.org campaign by reading today's SavingGreys blog from Executive Director Carey Theil.

You can also receive regular updates on this and other campaigns, and read inside information on the dog racing industry each day at facebook.com/GREY2KUSA.
