Hundreds of greyhound adoption groups have formed across the county to find homes for dogs discarded by the racing industry. As part of our continuing series, today we would like to spotlight the wonderful work of American Greyhound

Dear Friends,

American Greyhound of Indiana is one of the brightest lights on the US adoption scene! Today we invite you to learn more about this wonderful group and support its smart and sucessful efforts to save greyhounds.

American Greyhound is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation, dedicated to finding homes for unwanted greyhounds. Our volunteers rescue hounds when they have nowhere to turn, provide the necessary vet care, teach them what it means to live in a home as a companion animal, and find them good homes where they are able to live out their lives.

This creative team raises funds with a Chicago Marathon team, through their "Winning Hearts, Not Races" auction in May, and by organizing the"Freezin' for a Reason/Polar Bear Plunge" into Lake Michigan every January. Watch a video depicting these great events here.

American Greyhound focuses on bringing rescued racers to safety from Alabama and Florida tracks. They have recently obtained sufficient resources to purchase their own rescue van - but funds are now needed to make as many trips as possible. Please help them with a gift of support today.

Finally if you have room in your home and in your heart for a needy greyhound, please also consider submitting an adoption application to American Greyhound or to any of the groups on our adoption referral page today. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of greyhounds, until the wonderful day comes when the cruelty of dog racing finally ends.
