A bill to prop up dog racing with sports wagering is scheduled to be heard by the House Federal and State Affairs Committee on Wednesday and Thursday of this week. Please act now to block this dangerous measure!
HB 2671 encourages old Kansas racetracks to reopen and cash in on this new form of gambling. At least two of the three long-closed facilities would be required to host live dog races again, bringing suffering and death to thousands of young greyhounds each year.
We cannot let this happen!
Wagering on live greyhound racing declined by 95% from 1990-2007. The last race was held in August 2008.
If HB 2671 passes, the cruelty of dog racing will come back to the beautiful Sunflower State! Please sign on and send a message to members of the House Federal and State Affairs Committee today. Ask them to protect greyhounds and reject HB 2671.
