Today, we bring you an important update and an invitation to help end dog racing in Scotland.

Last month, I had the honor to meet with Members of Parliament in Edinburgh to provide evidence in favor of outlawing dog racing. Now you can help by submitting your comments in support of the campaign as well!

The Rural Affairs and Islands Committee is considering a petition brought by Scotland Against Greyhound Exploitation (SAGE) which asks for an immediate phase out of greyhound racing.  Committee Convener Finlay Carson has also received recommendations from the Scottish Animal Welfare Commission for a multi-year review, and is now asking for opinions on the best way to proceed. He has posed three specific questions to the public.

Please log in and provide brief answers to the following by Friday, April 7:

Q1 What is your view about the welfare of greyhounds used for racing in Scotland?

Q2 Do you agree with the petition which calls for a ban on greyhound racing in Scotland? Please explain your reasons for your answer.

Q3 Do you agree with the recommendations of the Scottish Animal Welfare Commission report? Please explain your reasons for your answer.

Read my submission and then please feel free to use SAGE’s fact sheet as a guide for submitting your own. Responses will become part of the public record and be considered by the full Scottish Parliament.
