Dear Friends,
Last Friday, greyhound advocates won a stunning victory in Kansas. Senate Bill 427, a bill to revive three long-shuttered dog tracks in the Sunflower State, failed by a vote of 17-20!
|
The importance of Friday’s vote cannot be overstated. Dickinson County, Kansas was once considered the heart of greyhound breeding in the United States. If The Woodlands, Wichita or Camptown Greyhound Parks had reopened, many greyhound puppy mills would have sprung back to life. Thousands of spent female racers would have been doomed for years to come, used to pump out more victims for an industry that always cares more about the buck than the bark.

Please celebrate this wonderful turning point by buying a “Greyhound Mom” or other special t-shirt or hoodie in the color of your choice from our special friends at Bonny Graphics. Mother’s Day is coming right up on Sunday, May 13 and gift wrapping is available.

Finally, thanks to everyone who signed our petition to Kansas lawmakers! We’d also like to give a big shout-out to advocate Terry Garberg for sponsoring billboards and targeted print ads all across the state in advance of the vote. We are proud to say that our ads even received the endorsement of adoption group Kansas City REGAP.
