Dear Friends,
Next week, the Mayor of London will decide the fate of the Walthamstow dog track. For decades, Walthamstow was one of the most prominent greyhound tracks in the United Kingdom. Thankfully, it closed in 2008 due to lack of business.
A proposal to repurpose Walthamstow as a site for affordable housing received preliminary approval just days ago. However, greyhound trainers from all over the country have joined together to try to defeat the housing proposal and reopen the dog track.
If Walthamstow reopens as a dog track, countless greyhounds will suffer serious injuries. We cannot allow this to happen.
Please join me in telling London Mayor Boris Johnson that dog racing should not be allowed again at Walthamstow. To help, sign this petition today. Then, send Mayor Johnson a personal e-mail at:
mayor@london.gov.uk
Tell him how important greyhounds are to you, and ask him to oppose any effort to bring dog racing back to Walthamstow Stadium.
Mayor Johnson could make his decision as soon as Monday, so please take action right away.
Thank you for caring about the greyhounds. Together, we can make a difference!
