Please call your MA State Senator for the greyhounds!

Dear Friend,

The greyhounds need your help again!

As you know, in 2008 Massachusetts citizens overwhelmingly voted to end all betting and wagering on greyhound racing. The Greyhound Protect Act passed by a margin of 56-44 statewide. However, despite this historic victory local gamblers are still being allowed to bet on dog races in other states remotely, through simulcasting.

But today we bring you good news.

Over the next few days, the Massachusetts State Senate will consider a proposal (Budget Amendment 220.1) to fully enforce Question 3, and phase out greyhound simulcast wagering for good. This is an important proposal sponsored by Senator Pat Jehlen that will help end the cruelty of dog racing nationwide.

There are still 23 operational dog tracks in seven states, and at these tracks thousands of greyhounds endure lives of terrible confinement and suffer serious injuries.

Call to Action:

Please pick up the phone and ask your State Senator to SUPPORT Budget Amendment 220.1. Ask her/him to support the will of the voters on Question 3 because we should not be propping up the cruelty of dog racing taking place elsewhere.

To find the phone number of your State Senator, click here. (Please note that you need to call your State Senator, not U.S. Senator.)

Please make your call today. The greyhounds cannot speak for themselves, and are counting on us to be their voice.

Let’s make the 2008 vote on Question 3 count!
