**URGENT ACTION ALERT -- PLEASE FORWARD AND CROSSPOST TO ALL LISTS ** Arizona Racing Cruelty Exposed, Letters Needed! Dear Friends: For the first time, GREY2K USA has been able to obtain official injury records for greyhounds racing in the state of Arizona. According to reports provided by the Department of Racing, more than five hundred greyhound injuries were reported at two Arizona dog tracks in 2008. These injuries included dogs that suffered broken legs, broken backs, dislocations, amputations, and paralysis. Read today's front page story in the Arizona Republic. Altogether, 555 injuries were reported. The vast majority of these injuries (451) occurred at Phoenix Greyhound Park. Thirty-seven injuries were fatal. Roughly one-third of all reported injuries involved broken legs. Go to our web site to read more. It is our hope that this new information will help bring an end to the cruelty of greyhound racing in yet another state. Please contact the Governor of Arizona, Jan Brewer, and ask her to make dog racing illegal in the Grand Canyon state: The Honorable Jan Brewer Telephone (602) 542-4331 Click this link to send an e-mail to Governor Brewer. Thanks for caring about the greyhounds! ![]() Christine Dorchak and Carey Theil GREY2K USA |
