Hundreds of greyhound adoption groups have been formed across the county in order to find homes for dogs that have been discarded by the racing industry. As part of our continuing series, we would like to spotlight the wonderful work of Greyhound Rescue of Idaho.
Dear Friends,
Since the early 1990's, Virginia ("Gin") and Ken McKean and Greyhound Rescue of Idaho have dedicated themselves to saving greyhounds and ending dog racing.
It was in 1995 that Gin was a leading voice in passing a bill to shut down the infamous Post Falls dog track, where losing dogs were reportedly killed by electrocution. The result was a legal ban on dog racing in the state, effective 1996. Gin then went on to help found GREY2K USA in 2001!
Gin and Ken now focus on giving dogs from the current racing states their second chance at life. As part of our Greyhounds First Coalition, GRI has joined with the GREY2K USA Education Fund, and groups from fifteen states including Greyhound Adoptions of Florida, the National Greyhound Adoption Program of Pennsylvania, USA Defenders of Dogs of Indiana and Greyhound Companions of New Mexico to be ready to help greyhounds released from Florida when the bill to phase out dog racing passes (hopefully next session)!
Please help GRI rescue more dogs with a donation today.
Recently, Gin and Ken discovered that illegal simulcast wagering on dog racing was occurring in Idaho, despite their hard-won 1996 victory. To read more, see "Blowing the Whistle" by County Commission Sharon Ullman. Then please stay tuned for ways to help!

Gin and Ken are saving lives (like mine) every day. Please help them with a gift today.
For the greyhounds,
