Dear friends,
Every month, we request injury records from tracks nationwide. These records tell the sad story of dog racing, day by day and year by year.
Last week, our office received documentation showing that in just one month this summer, forty-two greyhounds suffered broken bones, muscle injuries and/or puncture wounds while racing at Tri-State (now Mardi Gras) dog track in West Virginia. Click here to read the official vet report we received.
One dog, named Mac's Sparkler, broke his leg and was killed on June 8. This was my birthday, a day that I celebrated - but that was his last.
Dog racing isn't fair to dogs. It must be ended. In 2011, there were 520 greyhound injuries reported at Mardi Gras. The greyhounds there will continue to suffer until we can end dog racing in West Virginia once and for all.
Join me in this fight today. Educate and donate today.
For the greyhounds,
